This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Direct the design, development, and upkeep of flight-critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation solutions as well as avionics products.
• Utilize embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interface tools, simulations, and integrated development environments for new product development.
• Define requirements, execute software implementations, create test procedures, conduct verifications, and finalize certification documents.
• Oversee technical, scheduling, and budgetary aspects of team assignments, ensuring completion in alignment with the project roadmap.
• Aid in task planning and execution.
• Contribute to project strategies by estimating task sizes, identifying dependencies, and uncovering risks and opportunities.
• Engage in and potentially lead an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating efforts, communicating status updates, identifying issues, brainstorming solutions, assisting colleagues, and fostering collaboration.
• Implement software engineering methodologies throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements gathering to verification.
• Provide support for product certification processes required by federal agencies.
• A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related discipline.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming, particularly in real-time embedded software.
• At least 2 years of experience leading a software team through a development lifecycle.
• Over 8 years of experience in identifying complex challenges, assessing options, and creating software solutions for real-time operating systems.
• More than 8 years of experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on planning, design, and solution development.
• Preferred: At least 2 years of experience with DO-178B, with Design Assurance Level A or B preferred.
• Preferred: A minimum of 2 years of experience with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or LynxOS.
• Preferred: Over 8 years of experience with software engineering processes and practices, including software requirements, design and implementation, functional and integration testing, test cases and procedures, as well as software delivery support.
• Must be a U.S. Person, which includes a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or another protected individual as defined by regulations.
• Security clearance is not necessary.
