Senior Software Engineer – Foundation Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of embedded software that is crucial for military and commercial aviation solutions and avionics products.

• Utilize embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interface tools, simulations, and integrated development environments.

• Define requirements, implement software, create test procedures, conduct verification, and produce certification artifacts.

• Manage the technical, scheduling, and financial dimensions of team assignments while aiding in task planning and execution.

• Contribute to project strategies by estimating task durations, identifying dependencies, and uncovering risks and opportunities.

• Engage in and potentially lead an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating efforts, communicating progress, addressing issues, brainstorming, and facilitating collaboration.

• Navigate through all stages of the software product life cycle, from requirements gathering to verification.

• Employ software engineering methodologies to deliver high-quality avionics products.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related discipline.

• Proficient in C/C++ programming, ideally in the context of real-time embedded software.

• At least 2 years of experience leading a software team through a development cycle.

• Over 8 years of experience in identifying complex issues, evaluating options, and crafting solutions for software operating on real-time systems.

• More than 8 years of experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in planning, designing, and developing solutions.

• U.S. Person status is mandatory, which includes U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.

• Experience with DO-178B, preferably at DAL A or B.

• Familiarity with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or LynxOS.

• Knowledge of software engineering processes and procedures, encompassing software requirements, design and implementation, functional and integration testing, test cases, test procedures, and software delivery support.

• Security clearance is not a prerequisite.
