This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Design, develop, and maintain various lifecycle components, such as installation, updates, startup processes, and system services.
• Enhance the reliability and performance of Docker Desktop across macOS, Windows, and Linux environments.
• Engage in OS-level integrations, permissions models, and system behaviors, including admin and admin-less installations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues related to startup, crashes, and system interactions.
• Collaborate with platform and feature teams to guarantee seamless integration with shared components.
• Contribute to documentation, participate in technical design discussions, and facilitate knowledge sharing within the Desktop ecosystem.
• Develop high-quality code with robust test coverage while promoting healthy engineering practices.
• Participate in an on-call rotation outside of standard business hours as necessary.
• Lead or co-lead significant features from design through to development.
• Spearhead architectural initiatives or cross-cutting platform projects and influence engineering practices across teams.
• Over 6 years of experience in backend software development.
• Recent, demonstrated proficiency in Go (Golang).
• Extensive experience in backend and platform engineering.
• In-depth understanding of operating systems (macOS, Windows, or Linux), including their system APIs and behaviors.
• Capability to design modular, maintainable system components that effectively scale across teams.
• Proficiency in debugging complex system-level issues and enhancing reliability and performance.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to navigate through ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills, encompassing written documentation and technical design discussions.
• Willingness to learn Go and contribute to a Go-based codebase.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Readiness to participate in an on-call rotation as required.
• Candidates must currently reside in the East Coast time zone in the US or Canada.
