Senior Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain production-grade Python services that manage billions of requests daily, including essential rendering and delivery infrastructure.

• Design systems with a focus on failure modes, cost, and performance, taking ownership from deployment onward.

• Construct infrastructure tooling and automation utilizing Terraform, CI/CD, and Docker.

• Collaborate with engineering teams on optimizing cloud costs while maintaining reliability and performance within budgetary limits.

• Ensure 99.99%+ uptime by engaging in monitoring, incident response, and participating in on-call rotations.

• Create operational references, design documentation, and alerting guidelines.

• Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance production systems.

• Analyze the root causes of incidents and implement preventive measures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in Python development with the ability to produce clean, maintainable production code.

• Over 5 years of experience with a leading cloud service provider.

• Familiarity with multi-region cloud deployments.

• Preference for experience with GCP; AWS or Azure experience will also be considered.

• Experience with Terraform or OpenTofu in infrastructure-as-code contexts.

• Proficient in deploying infrastructure via CI/CD methodologies.

• Understanding of Linux fundamentals.

• Experience with on-call responsibilities and production incident triage using logs and metrics.

• Capability to independently investigate root causes.

• Strong written communication skills, particularly in asynchronous formats.

• Bonus points for experience with CDNs, caching infrastructure, or visual media pipelines.

• Familiarity with GDPR and SOC 2 compliance is a plus.
