Senior Software Engineer – Core Experience, Growth

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and take ownership of backend services, APIs, and data integrations that support coupon merchandising.

• Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams to implement and refine end-to-end experiments.

• Launch, assess, and enhance A/B tests aimed at improving key performance metrics.

• Carry out codebase and product optimizations to boost reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness across distributed systems.

• Work across functions to define roadmaps, success metrics, and operational boundaries.

• Articulate trade-offs in a dynamic, experiment-focused setting.

• Uphold engineering standards through code reviews, testing, documentation, and architectural choices.

• Collaborate with frontend and mobile engineers to create seamless experiences across web, iOS, and Android platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of professional experience in software engineering with a concentration on backend development.

• Expertise in at least one modern backend programming language and framework, such as Go, Python/Django, Flask/FastAPI, Java/Spring, Ruby/Rails, or Node.js/Express.

• Experience in designing and managing RESTful or gRPC APIs and production microservices.

• In-depth knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.

• Familiarity with caching or NoSQL databases such as Redis and DynamoDB.

• Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL queries.

• Experience working with Product and Data Science teams on data-driven features and experimental outcomes.

• Background in deploying and managing services on public cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes or similar orchestration tools.

• Capacity to produce clean, maintainable code.

• Strong debugging abilities and a solid understanding of unit and integration testing methodologies.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
