Senior Software Engineer – Control Plane, Go, Kubernetes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and develop control plane functionalities for network security solutions utilizing Go in Linux-based settings.

• Create and manage APIs that facilitate policy configuration, deployment processes, logging, and operational insights.

• Incorporate third-party components and internal services into Cisco's security systems.

• Work in conjunction with data plane and platform engineering teams to ensure comprehensive feature functionality.

• Participate in architectural discussions, feature design, and the technical execution of new security capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant software engineering experience, a Master's with 6 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience.

• Over 5 years of development experience in programming languages like Go, C, or C++.

• Proven experience in software development within Linux environments.

• Background in developing or maintaining software for security, networking, or infrastructure products, or distributed systems.

• Experience in developing software for cloud-native applications or services deployed on Kubernetes or similar distributed systems.

• More than 5 years of professional experience in Go development (preferred).

• Experience in designing and developing APIs using REST, gRPC, or Protocol Buffers (preferred).

• Familiarity with Kubernetes-based applications (preferred).

• Understanding of Kubernetes concepts (preferred).

• Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (preferred).

• Experience effectively working in a remote or distributed team setting (preferred).
