Senior Software Engineer - COB & Subrogate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical vision for backend development and design scalable, reliable web application systems.

• Collaborate with AI coding agents, overseeing and evaluating their output while ensuring quality standards are met.

• Promote the integration of new languages, tools, and agentic development methodologies throughout the team.

• Develop code that significantly influences customer experiences and future product offerings.

• Work cross-functionally to shape product direction and engage directly with customers.

• Gain an in-depth understanding of the healthcare subrogation and COB domain.

• Construct production-quality Java and/or Rust services, contribute to best practices, mentor colleagues, and enhance programming proficiency.

• Act as the backend representative in cross-team planning and facilitate collaborative execution.

• Guide the adoption of Rust idioms, safety, and performance best practices.

• Contribute to the development of complex in-browser applications emphasizing extensibility, scalability, and security.

• Manage the balance between customer-facing features and the resolution of technical debt.

• Design and implement applications that utilize ML techniques for processing large datasets.

• Create reliable, high-performance systems.

• Integrate agentic engineering practices into the team's daily operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in backend programming.

• Significant experience with Java or Scala; proficiency in Rust is highly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and managing distributed systems on cloud platforms at scale.

• Proficient in writing Technical Design Documents and translating unclear product intentions into backend architecture.

• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, product management, ML/DS, and leadership teams.

• Practical experience with agentic engineering tools and workflows in a production environment.

• Ability to read and interpret complex code, take ownership of code quality, and enhance it.

• Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities in a dynamic, high-pressure setting.

• Comfortable navigating complexity and eager to chart the way forward.

• Technical leadership in Rust best practices is a plus.

• BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
