Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Platform Foundations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage the foundational infrastructure for Temporal Cloud.

• Facilitate continuous regional failover and enhance platform resilience through high availability and disaster recovery strategies.

• Automate control plane operations to boost reliability and developer productivity.

• Scale database systems while ensuring low latency, high reliability, and availability.

• Redesign the process from commit to production as deployment frequency and engineering team size increase.

• Create dependable CI/CD pipelines for safer deployments, quicker iterations, and improved testing coverage.

• Advance the multi-tenant control plane, minimize blast radius, enhance namespace density, and enrich developer experience.

• Collaborate with engineers and product managers on significant infrastructure challenges.

• Develop customer-facing interfaces and integrations, including APIs, CLI, Terraform provider, SDKs, and Kubernetes operator.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in backend engineering with a focus on cloud/infrastructure, preferably with some operational exposure.

• Experience working on a control plane team for cloud-based microservices.

• Background in building or managing multi-tenant SaaS applications.

• Familiarity with density-oriented architectures of cloud providers.

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.

• Experience designing for high availability and managing compute and traffic at scale.

• Solid database expertise with the ability to build tools rather than just configure them.

• Proficiency in CLI and DevOps practices.

• Exposure to data pipelining is a plus.
