Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Networking

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the architecture and advancement of Vultr’s global cloud networking platform.

• Create innovative cloud networking solutions that include VPC, security groups, gateways, and routing domains.

• Spearhead the implementation of control-plane and data-plane features along with network orchestration.

• Oversee BGP peering, tenant isolation, and the enforcement of network policies.

• Prototype and validate new capabilities at scale.

• Provide support for production systems and manage incident response.

• Enhance Vultr’s control plane by integrating networking functionalities.

• Establish the networking foundation for Vultr’s cloud infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in infrastructure, network engineering, or hosting environments.

• Proficient in virtual networking (public/private cloud), SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN.

• In-depth knowledge of BGP, L2/L3 routing, as well as Linux and Kubernetes networking.

• Experience with network automation and observability.

• Proficient in Go or Rust programming languages.

• Familiarity with PHP and SQL is advantageous.

• Ability to communicate clearly across engineering teams and leadership.

• Experience with high-performance networking hardware such as Broadcom DNX, XGS, DPUs, and SmartNICs.

• Previous experience in modernizing legacy systems.

• Knowledge of network security or multi-tenant firewall solutions.

• Background in cloud providers or hyperscalers.

• Candidate must be located in the United States.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
