Senior Software Engineer, Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Lead the transformation of VTEX's custom routing layer to a contemporary, industry-standard Service Mesh like Istio.

• Design, create, and oversee network components that handle millions of requests per second with minimal latency.

• Ensure core network services such as Ingress, DNS, Service Mesh, and CDN are consistently available and resilient.

• Implement service-design principles to develop scalable, robust, and maintainable backend services and infrastructure tools.

• Utilize AI for development, legacy code refactoring, testing, and documentation while making informed decisions regarding critical infrastructure.

• Mentor engineers, create documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences, and engage actively in the hiring process.

• Advance mission-critical infrastructure towards a market-standard stack without experiencing downtime.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive backend/platform engineering experience with substantial, hands-on involvement in operating and evolving Kubernetes infrastructure.

• Proven experience in designing and managing systems for mission-critical, high-throughput environments that process millions of requests per second.

• In-depth knowledge of service design and distributed systems.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, proxies, and microservices communication.

• Ability to navigate complex legacy systems while developing replacements.

• Experience with .NET is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Service Mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy is highly preferred.

• Proficient use of AI in engineering tasks, with discernment regarding suitable applications.

• Strong communication skills to discuss and negotiate technical trade-offs with teams and non-technical stakeholders.
