Senior Software Engineer – CCC Auto, Agentic

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and deliver backend services utilizing Python and TypeScript, transforming ambiguous challenges into operational solutions.

• Create and manage robust, event-driven, multi-tenant systems featuring deterministic workflows, designed failure modes, replay semantics, and detailed cost profiles.

• Take ownership of tracing and auditing to ensure model calls and agent steps can be reconstructed and referenced back to their sources.

• Manage claims automation data modeling across relational, document, and graph databases.

• Safeguard the security and isolation of sensitive information.

• Produce complex system design documentation, evaluate engineering designs and code, and provide mentorship to engineers.

• Enhance team practices for agentic coding tools, including specifications, instructional files, hooks, permission policies, and reviews of generated code.

• Engage in a shared on-call rotation.

• Work collaboratively with product managers, data scientists, and customers to define project scope and address issues related to correctness and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including the design and production deployment of an event-driven system.

• Proficiency in Python and TypeScript sufficient to establish team conventions, along with a background in a systems programming language such as Rust, Go, Java, or C#.

• Strong foundational knowledge in computer science and distributed systems, including concurrency, consistency, ordering, and system failure mechanisms.

• Experience with event-driven systems built on brokers like Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or Service Bus, capable of managing duplicate, delayed, and failed events without loss or double-processing of tasks.

• Data modeling expertise across relational, document, and graph databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including making decisions around partition keys, consistency, and tenant isolation.

• Experience with systems designed and operated on Azure or AWS, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and hands-on experience with durable workflow engines like Temporal or the Durable Task Scheduler.

• Regular use of tools like Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar agentic coding tools in production, including context limitation, output verification, and explanation of rejected changes.

• Authored technical design documents for systems that span multiple teams, used to gather feedback and secure buy-in prior to development.

• Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Video interview is mandatory; the use of generative AI or automated assistance during interviews is prohibited unless explicitly permitted for a specific exercise.
