This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +4 more states.
• Navigate through the backend while also contributing to the development of a new dashboard frontend when required.
• Design and implement merchant automation for payment disputes, incorporating features such as notifications, deadline tracking, evidence collection, and response management.
• Broaden dispute coverage from five payment service providers (PSPs) to encompass the entirety of Primer’s network.
• Collaborate with third-party fraud vendors like Riskified, Forter, Signifyd, and Sift to create a cohesive comparison and switching experience.
• Conceptualize and deliver a native rules and signals engine, which includes velocity rules, blocklists, and device fingerprinting capabilities.
• Make initial architectural decisions regarding service boundaries, integration patterns, and data models.
• Partner with the Engineering Manager and Product team to transform merchant challenges into effective automation solutions.
• Assist in establishing on-call rotations, tooling, and engineering standards for the new team.
• Proven experience in managing backend systems from conception through deployment and monitoring.
• Ideally possess experience in fraud, risk management, payments, or other significant domains.
• Comfortable with designing systems from the ground up.
• Strong instincts for architecture and code quality.
• Experience in mentoring or enhancing the technical skills of others.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to deliver results quickly and frequently.
• Track record of maintaining high quality standards in production systems.
• Familiarity with card scheme regulations, chargeback processes, or fraud vendor integrations (preferred but not mandatory).
• Experience with webhook-based event systems, rules engines, or orchestration platforms (preferred but not mandatory).
• Openness to taking on frontend tasks as necessary (preferred but not mandatory).
• Must reside in Portugal, Poland, Romania, Hungary, or South Africa.
