This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• You will take charge of achieving and delivering quarterly objectives for your team, guiding engineers through uncertainty to address open-ended challenges, and ensuring that every team member receives the necessary support throughout the delivery process.
• You will collaborate with your peers and stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle, working alongside product management, design, and analytics by engaging in ideation, articulating technical limitations, and collaborating on decisions that appropriately assess risks and trade-offs.
• You will proactively recognize and address issues related to projects, processes, technology, or business operations, advocating for these concerns and leading efforts to resolve them.
• You will support the availability and operation of your team's artifacts by creating and tracking metrics, escalating issues when necessary, and assisting in “keep the lights on” and on-call responsibilities.
• You will cultivate a culture of quality and ownership within your team by establishing or enhancing code review and design standards, and promoting these values beyond your team through your writing and technical presentations.
• You will contribute to the development of talent within your team by offering constructive feedback and guidance, and by setting a positive example.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Proven experience in developing highly available distributed systems utilizing technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in outlining a technical strategy for delivering a significant feature or system component with a design that is elegant, simple, and extensible. You produce high-quality code that is easily understood and utilized by others.
• Proficient in implementing substantial changes within a large codebase, and have developed a set of tools and practices that enable you and your team to do so safely.
• Your background shows that you take ownership of your personal growth, actively seeking feedback from your team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
• This role requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
