Senior Software Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable, secure, and resilient backend services utilizing TypeScript and Node.js.

• Take ownership of and enhance distributed systems that facilitate banking, card management, payment processing, and partner integrations.

• Architect technical solutions that balance immediate business requirements with long-term scalability, maintainability, and security.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to convert business objectives into technical solutions.

• Identify risks, optimize performance, and enhance observability through logging and monitoring practices.

• Create efficient data models and storage solutions across both SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Engage in code reviews and provide mentorship to teammates through constructive feedback.

• Refactor existing systems, minimize technical debt, and disseminate knowledge throughout the team.

• Shape the long-term development of Dave’s banking platform and establish reliable infrastructure for millions of members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or a comparable combination of education and relevant experience.

• Over 4 years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend development.

• Professional background in building backend applications using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Strong grasp of software engineering principles, design patterns, and algorithms.

• Experience in designing and creating RESTful APIs.

• Proficient in constructing scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities for intricate technical challenges.

• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Capability to excel in an agile setting while balancing independent ownership with teamwork.

• Experience integrating with enterprise payment processors is advantageous.

• Familiarity with PCI-compliant environments or highly regulated sectors is a plus.

• Knowledge of banking, payment infrastructure, or financial services platforms is beneficial.

• Must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
