Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain our essential backend platform and services utilizing Go.

• Directly contribute to the open-source OpenTDF project, influencing its future and ensuring its success.

• Address intricate engineering challenges concerning data security, scalability, and distributed systems in a multi-language setting.

• Create and implement solutions for complex enterprise and federal customer environments, including on-premise, air-gapped, and cloud-native deployments, utilizing Terraform and GitOps tools.

• Collaborate on the architecture and execution of our multi-language SDKs (Go, Java, JavaScript) to ensure seamless integration with the backend.

• Guide fellow engineers through constructive code reviews, pair programming, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

• Produce well-defined written design documents and foster a culture of technical excellence.

• Utilize AI coding agents to expedite development, uphold engineering standards, and extend your influence across the codebase.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development.

• Strong expertise in Go (Golang) and experience in building production-grade, scalable services using it.

• Familiarity with both microservice and monolithic architectures, APIs (gRPC, REST), and distributed systems.

• Proven hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in production settings, with practical implementation of CI/CD and GitOps pipelines (e.g., Helm, ArgoCD).

• Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions with Terraform across multi-cloud environments.

• A proven ability to independently manage complex technical projects from design to deployment.

• Extensive experience in cryptography, including knowledge of cryptographic primitives, protocols, and secure key management. (Nice to have)

• Profound understanding of identity federation principles beyond mere protocol usage (OIDC, SAML), including experience in designing or contributing to federated trust systems. (Nice to have)

• Experience in architecting for and deploying into intricate customer environments, including on-premise, air-gapped, sovereign clouds, or bare-metal deployments. (Nice to have)

• Familiarity with modern API protocols like ConnectRPC. (Nice to have)

• Understanding of container standards and runtimes such as the Open Container Initiative (OCI). (Nice to have)

• Experience in building and maintaining multi-language SDKs. (Nice to have)

• Contributions to open-source projects, particularly in the security or data domains. (Nice to have)

• Proficiency in other programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, or Rust. (Nice to have)

• Demonstrable experience as an active contributor or maintainer of an established open-source project. (Nice to have)

• Comfortable collaborating with AI coding agents as part of your development workflow. (Nice to have)
