This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of the engineering function through a genuine succession path alongside the current engineering leader.
• Make decisions regarding architecture and prioritization while developing independent engineering judgment.
• Lead and coordinate backend engineers through various tasks, sprint reviews, pull request approvals, and provide technical mentorship.
• Share go/no-go authority for production deployments and make decisions on hotfixes versus queue with QA.
• Acquire a solid understanding of Glovebox, MPI, PromisePay, scheduler, OEM feeds, and reporting.
• Review pull requests, troubleshoot production issues, and implement backend fixes.
• Oversee the migration from ActiveMQ to SQS, manage consumers, design queue architecture, and triage the backlog.
• Monitor and react to application-layer health using DataDog, CloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray.
• Lead initiatives aimed at reducing infrastructure costs, focusing on DocumentDB ReadIOPS and Lambda efficiency.
• Become the in-house expert on DMS integrations and manage engineering for OEM data pipelines.
• Provide technical support and guidance to Support and Customer Success teams regarding DMS issues and integration edge cases.
• Act as the primary point of escalation for P0/P1 incidents; respond, contain, communicate, and document accordingly.
• Write root-cause analyses following significant production events.
• Maintain Confluence runbooks and keep current escalation contacts updated.
• Manage application-layer security, including vulnerability remediation, SAST findings, dependency management, and repository access.
• Serve as the engineering contact for SOC 2 and PCI-DSS audits.
• Collaborate with IT and SRE on cross-functional security policies.
• Proven ability or readiness to take full ownership of an engineering function.
• Independent judgment in prioritizing tasks and crafting software architecture.
• Leadership in backend engineering, encompassing coordination of engineers, sprint reviews, pull request approvals, and providing technical mentorship.
• Hands-on experience in backend development and resolving production issues.
• Proficiency or capability in managing the migration from ActiveMQ to SQS, consumer management, and queue architecture.
• Experience in monitoring and incident response utilizing DataDog, CloudWatch, and AWS X-Ray.
• Knowledge of DMS integrations including Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, DealerTrack, DealerBuilt, AutoSoft, AutoMate, and Dominion.
• Familiarity with OEM data pipelines and feeds for manufacturers such as Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Mazda, Ford, Hyundai/Genesis, Kia, Audi/VW, and BMW.
• Experience handling P0/P1 incidents, including response, containment, communication, and documentation.
• Ability to author root-cause analyses and maintain Confluence runbooks.
• Background in application security, including code-level vulnerability remediation, SAST findings, dependency management, and repository access.
• Understanding of SOC 2 and PCI-DSS audits.
