Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and maintain full-stack application functionalities utilizing Python and Go.

• Create backend services, APIs, integrations, automation, and ancillary tools.

• Enhance product capabilities in network automation and mission platform applications.

• Develop AI agent systems that utilize tools, access external services, and reason over both structured and unstructured data.

• Integrate agents with tools and data sources through protocols such as MCP.

• Design and construct modern front-end applications and generative user interfaces.

• Implement integrations with cloud services, network automation tools, monitoring solutions, and third-party systems.

• Ingest, process, and correlate operational and telemetry data to automate workflows.

• Operate within CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code environments.

• Contribute to automated builds, testing, and deployments across development, staging, and production stages.

• Construct and deploy containerized, cloud-native applications.

• Leverage AI-assisted software development tools for coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, documentation, and code analysis.

• Assess AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and alignment with engineering standards.

• Diagnose application, integration, deployment, and production issues.

• Engage in architecture, design discussions, code reviews, testing, documentation, release management, deployment, and continuous improvement.

• Apply secure software development practices and collaborate with security and compliance teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven professional experience in designing, developing, and supporting production software applications.

• Strong hands-on software development experience with Python, including professional experience with Django, FastAPI, or a similar modern framework.

• Programming experience with Go and familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript or other contemporary application development languages.

• Experience in designing, developing, and utilizing RESTful APIs and integrating applications with external systems and services.

• Proficient in relational databases, data modeling, backend application architecture, and modern front-end web development technologies.

• Experience in building AI agent or agentic-workflow systems, including tool use, multi-step orchestration, and integration with large language models.

• Familiarity with modern front-end development, including exposure to generative or AI-driven user interfaces.

• Practical experience in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience working within a CI/CD and DevOps-oriented software delivery environment.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).

• Experience with Docker, containers, and cloud-native application deployment.

• Proven experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.

• Ability to independently troubleshoot software, integration, deployment, and production issues.

• Comfortable working in a high-ambiguity, early-stage product environment.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• US Citizenship with the capacity to obtain a security clearance.

• DOD/DoW Secret or Top Secret clearance is preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field is desired.

• Direct experience with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar agent-tool integration standards is desired.

• Familiarity with agent orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or CrewAI is preferred.

• Experience in developing software for network operations, telemetry, or mission/tactical systems is preferred.

• Experience with AWS and/or GCP cloud-native services is preferred.

• Knowledge of Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline, CloudFormation, or comparable technologies is preferred.

• Familiarity with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks like React, including streaming UI patterns, is preferred.

• Knowledge of vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, or other applied large-language-model patterns is preferred.

• Experience with observability and monitoring platforms is preferred.

• Understanding of NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53 Revision 5, FedRAMP, and FISMA is preferred.

• Experience translating operational or mission requirements into application features is preferred.

• Previous experience supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency, Army, Air Force, or other Department of War initiatives is preferred.

• Experience in federal government, enterprise, or highly regulated environments is preferred.
