Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee design evaluations and execution for significant, cross-functional initiatives; define the technical direction within a defined scope.

• Develop reusable standards—service templates, libraries, guardrails, and default configurations—that are adopted by various teams.

• Propel refactoring and reliability enhancements that significantly decrease recurring defects and incident occurrences.

• Implement data contracts, validation checkpoints, and coordinated migrations that synchronize shared entities and ownership.

• Enhance performance practices by launching dashboards, benchmarks, and systemic fixes following incidents; mentor peers on the effective application of AI-assisted tools.

• Establish security and privacy guardrails (secure templates, continuous integration checks, safer defaults) that minimize recurring issues across the team.

• Direct team-level planning: set collective expectations for task breakdown, estimation, and sequencing; identify risks early and maintain workflow.

• Develop communication standards (design/decision documents, incident communication templates) and mentoring frameworks (onboarding plans, buddy systems) that scale with the team.

• Assist teammates in overcoming challenging technical issues and advocate for scope decisions in terms of product impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with a focus on delivering production code.

• In-depth experience in designing, creating, and managing production software systems on a large scale.

• Proven history of establishing technical direction for a team or significant system and delivering the corresponding outcomes.

• Demonstrated capability to create shared patterns, templates, or guardrails that are embraced by other engineers.

• Strong system design expertise—scalability patterns, reliability measures (timeouts, retries, backpressure, caching), and superior observability.

• Experience in leading refactoring, deprecation, or modernization efforts that lower the long-term cost of change.

• Proven ability to influence engineering strategies across multiple teams through documentation, reviews, and mentorship.

• Strong collaborative skills with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Engineering Management.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, encompassing decision documents, design overviews, and incident follow-ups.
