Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the design and development of software solutions that support public health and public safety IT projects, featuring applications that utilize significant automation and custom product configurations.

• Engaged in the design and development of cloud-native applications and web applications leveraging Java, Object Oriented Analysis, reusable Design patterns, and various web technologies.

• Responsible for creating automation tools to assist with development, deployment, monitoring, and testing for the application team.

• Tasked with developing UI web-based applications using React or Primefaces JSF for the team.

• Design and supervise comprehensive software solutions, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical strategies to produce scalable, innovative, and robust systems.

• Lead the development team in analyzing and breaking down requirements, assigning tasks to the team for releases.

• Conduct regular meetings with the business team to assess requirements and ensure they are met effectively.

• Develop applications for Oracle or PostgreSQL database within an RDBMS, including tuning SQL queries that incorporate complex business logic.

• Execute peer-reviews of developers' code, conduct unit testing, functional testing, and deploy code into the production environment.

• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement necessary fixes in the system.

• Identify technical debt and quality concerns, taking steps to remediate these issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a closely-related IT field, accompanied by 5 years’ experience as a Software Engineer/Developer focused on implementing and analyzing software solutions;

• Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a closely-related IT field, along with 3 years’ experience as a Software Engineer/Developer involved in implementing and analyzing software solutions.

• 3 years of experience in writing, debugging, and optimizing Bash shell scripts.

• 3 years of experience with Hibernate, JPA, SQL, and HQL, showcasing strong skills in ORM mapping, query optimization, entity management, and relational database design.

• 3 years of experience in designing, building, and consuming web services utilizing SOAP and/or REST APIs.

• 3 years of experience working within SCRUM and AGILE methodologies.

• 3 years of experience with full-stack architecture, including the development of pipelines, CI/CD processes, and infrastructure systems.

• 3 years of hands-on development experience with Spring Boot, Web Services, HTML5, and deployments in Unix-like environments using systems-level tools.

• 3 years of experience in analyzing user requirements and translating these into software designs and solutions.

• 3 years of experience in implementing and developing best practices for debugging, analytics, and API development in accordance with SOLID principles.

• 3 years of experience employing secure coding practices utilizing SSL/TLS PKI or Public/Private key with the RSA algorithm.

• 3 years of hands-on frontend development experience with either React or jQuery.

• 3 years of experience using Java to design and implement cloud-native applications and infrastructure on either AWS/Azure or Spring Cloud Netflix.

• 2 years of experience serving as a lead developer for a project or group, with responsibility for overseeing development efforts.
