Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Influence the future direction of the Horizon platform and the software development methodology at SkySpecs.

• Develop comprehensive full-stack software solutions for wind and solar asset inspection and management.

• Collaborate with product managers, clients, internal stakeholders, and engineers to gather requirements and define outcomes.

• Generate solutions, assess trade-offs, and devise implementation strategies.

• Write infrastructure as code.

• Design and create services and APIs.

• Develop reusable user experiences and workflows.

• Enhance reliability, performance, security, and developer productivity.

• Review code produced by colleagues and autonomous agents.

• Utilize AI tools and autonomous agents to expedite delivery.

• Create internal tools and automation processes.

• Refine documentation, architectural clarity, testing, observability, and deployment workflows.

• Minimize operational toil and enhance AI and agent capabilities.

• Investigate ideas, conduct experiments, and develop prototypes to enhance Horizon and engineering methodologies.

• Provide measurable results rather than merely lines of code.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in roles focused on writing, shipping, and managing production software.

• Expertise in at least one segment of the technology stack with the capability to work across other layers.

• Strong foundational skills in software engineering and systems thinking.

• Ability to independently manage tasks from requirement gathering to delivery.

• Sound judgment regarding trade-offs, architecture, and maintainability.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Capability to collaborate within cross-functional teams comprising both technical and non-technical members.

• Proficiency in effectively navigating multiple layers of the technology stack.

• Experience with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted and agentic development workflows, along with a history of enhancing their implementation.

• Discernment in utilizing AI tools, including the ability to review and correct agent-generated code.

• Bonus: Knowledge of AWS, GitLab, Auth0, Grafana, Terraform, Kafka, Node.js, Nest.js, TypeScript, Apollo GraphQL, React, Ant Design, Vitest, Playwright, and PostgreSQL.

• Bonus: Experience in building internal platforms, developer tools, or automation systems.

• Bonus: Experience operating distributed systems at scale.

• Bonus: Background in utility-scale energy generation, particularly in renewables.
