This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Take full responsibility for the pod’s delivery outcomes from start to finish, encompassing decomposition, sequencing, awareness of dependencies, and release.
• Develop production-level .NET services, APIs, data access components, and mature-codebase elements on a weekly basis.
• Incorporate SimpliAI capabilities into product functionalities, which include agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, tool invocation, and model-backed behaviors.
• Integrate evaluations and traces into AI functionalities from the outset.
• Act as the designated reviewer for pod code, including code generated by agents.
• Facilitate a structured Plan-and-Review cycle with clear assumptions and open questions.
• Oversee the application of the Wright agent loop and Conductor delivery system, establishing guidelines and addressing failures that need human intervention.
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers as they develop their designs.
• Communicate and manage the pod’s technical debt and trade-offs effectively.
• Ensure production quality, manage latency, oversee costs, handle on-call duties, and conduct postmortems.
• Forward designs to Architecture when they exceed the pod’s scope.
• Navigate ambiguous tasks through production and enhance pod members' capabilities via code reviews.
• Over 7 years of experience in building and delivering production software.
• Strong expertise in .NET and C#, particularly with ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, asynchronous patterns, performance optimization, and profiling.
• Proven experience serving as the senior engineer in a pod, squad, or feature team while remaining actively involved in coding.
• Familiarity with large, mature codebases, including refactoring under load, employing strangler patterns, or extracting services from a monolithic structure.
• Evidence of integrating LLM-driven features into a product that is in active use.
• Proficiency in prompt and context engineering, tool invocation, structured outputs, and evaluating features backed by LLMs.
• Fluency in Azure, including knowledge of AKS, App Service, Service Bus, and SQL.
• Comfortable working with CI/CD processes, GitHub, and Octopus Deploy or similar tools.
• Strong judgment in code reviews and the ability to articulate reasons for rejection decisions.
• Excellent written communication skills; a writing sample will be required.
• Experience in government, healthcare, or other regulated environments is advantageous.
