Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of technically intricate, mission-critical domains.

• Establish and advance the technical strategy for innovative products and platform functionalities.

• Design and deliver full-stack features encompassing backend, frontend, and potentially mobile applications.

• Collaborate with product, design, and customer-facing teams to convert vague challenges into technical plans and measurable results.

• Construct and scale systems supporting AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and operator workflows.

• Enhance engineering standards through code reviews, design evaluations, technical mentorship, and quality and velocity practices.

• Advocate for and integrate Samsara’s cultural principles as the company expands.

• Engage in customer interviews and work alongside product managers and customer success teams to develop products for physical operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in software design and development, including the construction and management of production systems at scale.

• Solid full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend web or mobile technologies.

• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or comparable languages and frameworks.

• Experience leading cross-team or cross-organizational projects from inception to rollout.

• Background in creating AI-powered or data-driven products.

• Strong communication abilities with a knack for bridging the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven history of building zero-to-one products or significantly enhancing systems.

• Experience delivering AI-powered features in production is preferred.

• Familiarity with AI-augmented development workflows such as Cursor and LLMs is advantageous.

• Background in operational data such as telematics, sensor data, work orders, or inspections is beneficial.

• Experience mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture is desirable.

• Involvement in side projects or contributions to open-source initiatives is a plus.
