Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and enhance Java backend services that support a global payments infrastructure.

• Spearhead the design and implementation of backend services, distributed systems, and APIs.

• Take ownership of features from inception to completion, encompassing architecture, coding, testing, observability, and deployment.

• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code adhering to engineering best practices and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Decompose complex technical tasks into manageable segments.

• Collaborate in a cross-functional, agile team setting.

• Guide and mentor associate and mid-level engineers.

• Identify, document, and implement enhancements in performance, reliability, and scalability.

• Engage in incident response and support rotations.

• Participate in an on-call rotation, averaging one week of duty every five weeks.

• Contribute to the technical strategy and elevate engineering standards organization-wide.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant commercial experience with modern Java 15, including multiple projects over at least 5 years.

• Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems and microservices.

• Profound understanding of object-oriented programming principles.

• Familiarity with event-driven architectures or Domain-Driven Design methodologies.

• Strong experience in system design, focusing on scalable, resilient, and high-performance distributed applications.

• Capability to make architectural decisions and assess technical trade-offs.

• Background in test-driven development (TDD) practices.

• Solid knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, along with data modeling expertise.

• Comprehensive understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.

• Experience with containerization, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.

• Background in fintech, payments, or other high-throughput/regulated sectors.

• Eagerness to learn, grow, and collaborate.

• Capability to work as an independent contractor and issue invoices for services rendered.

• Ability to successfully pass credit, education, sanction and enforcement, employment, criminal, and identity checks.
