Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture and technical direction of a key, moderately scoped service within the behavioral data platform, overseeing it from design to delivery.

• Lead the successful delivery of complete components and assist the lead engineer in gathering feedback and coordinating efforts across the team.

• Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and customer teams to clarify requirements and develop technical plans.

• Identify and address technical risks, including potential gaps against SLAs and reliability commitments, before they escalate into production issues.

• Facilitate discussions on data-driven design and evaluate the associated trade-offs.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

• Manage and take ownership of assigned services.

• Enhance team processes to enable regular, incremental delivery of high-quality software.

• Utilize AI coding assistants and agents while helping to establish standards for team adoption.

• Organize and lead technical communities of practice.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive, hands-on experience in Java and backend service design.

• Proven history of delivering production code that adheres to robust security, reliability, and maintainability standards.

• Experience in constructing and managing Kafka-based streaming pipelines and services within an AWS production environment.

• Strong background in distributed systems, concurrency, and scaling.

• Proficient in diagnosing and resolving complex production challenges.

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers and providing constructive feedback during code reviews and design discussions.

• Ability to collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define technical scope from ambiguous requirements.

• Sound judgment on matters of moderate to broad scope.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in English.

• Experience in designing GraphQL APIs or large-scale microservices architectures.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts.

• Experience in distributed data processing within the cloud or with ETL/orchestration tools.

• In-depth understanding of data modeling principles.

• Experience in evaluating, benchmarking, or creating custom agentic AI tools, prompt workflows, or developer automation.

• Exposure to recommendation systems or agentic/LLM-based experiences.

• Experience in SQL performance tuning or utilizing data visualization tools.
