Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and establish engineering specifications for software applications and programs.

• Write and design code that complies with established coding standards.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.

• Generate innovative ideas, investigate, and implement technical solutions for product features.

• Track technical progress against project timelines while ensuring functionality, scalability, and performance are maintained.

• Engage in Scrum ceremonies, participate in sprint planning, and support software development through to final execution.

• Communicate challenges and obstacles to the Scrum Master.

• Facilitate story creation, including defining the Definition of Done, acceptance criteria, and estimations.

• Create tasks within relevant software like RTC or Jira and manage status updates and assignments.

• Oversee work against production schedules and provide updates on progress.

• Report technical challenges and issues to lead developers.

• Provide mentorship to associate and intermediate software engineers as necessary.

• Develop scalable software applications across digital channels for customer service.

• Contribute throughout the application development process, from idea generation and business analysis to technical design and development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• 5 years of expertise in designing and analyzing algorithms, data structures, and design patterns for scalable, highly available systems.

• Preferred experience with Java, Spring Boot, Web Services/REST API, Angular, Oracle and DB2 databases, SQL, Kafka, Red Hat/DMN rules engine, GIT, and GCP.

• 7 years of experience with diverse technology systems, designing solutions, or developing healthcare applications is preferred.

• 5 years of experience translating design mockups, prototypes, and user stories into functional applications is preferred.

• 5 years of experience producing fault-tolerant, efficient, and maintainable code is preferred.

• 1 year of experience with Machine Learning, particularly in Natural Language Understanding, Machine Translation, Deep Neural Networks, and related fields is preferred.

• Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodology.

• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices throughout the complete software development life cycle.

• Understanding of coding standards, unit testing, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale consumer-facing applications.

• Eagerness and capability to learn additional programming languages as necessary.

• Experience and willingness to mentor junior engineers.

• Capacity to adhere to HIPAA, data security guidelines, privacy policies, the Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, and training requirements.

• No specific licenses or certifications are required.

• Travel requirement: 0%–25%.
