Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain features for the ROLR prediction markets platform.

• Create functionalities for the React Native iOS and Android application, as well as the SvelteKit web application.

• Transform product specifications and designs into robust, production-ready software.

• Contribute to onboarding, account management, market discovery, trading, and account activity processes.

• Develop and oversee backend-for-frontend API routes and integrate third-party services.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering teams.

• Work together on technical solutions and implementation strategies.

• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code.

• Engage in code reviews and aid in establishing engineering standards and best practices.

• Mentor junior engineers and lead discussions on technical design.

• Identify and address technical challenges during development and in production.

• Assist with testing, releases, and troubleshooting activities.

• Take into account performance, reliability, security, and scalability.

• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of ROLR's technology platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, including at least 2 years delivering production mobile or web front ends using TypeScript.

• Solid software engineering fundamentals and experience in creating production applications.

• Proven track record of owning features from inception to completion, including technical design, release, and production support.

• Experience in building and deploying iOS and Android applications with React Native and Expo, covering Expo Router, EAS builds, over-the-air updates, and App Store/Play Store launches.

• Hands-on experience developing web applications using Svelte and SvelteKit, including server-side rendering and backend-for-frontend API routes.

• Strong background in a similar framework such as React, Next.js, or Vue, with a readiness to work in Svelte also considered.

• Proficient in TypeScript, with experience in client state and data-fetching methodologies like TanStack Query and Zustand, and utility-first styling with Tailwind CSS and NativeWind.

• Familiarity with REST APIs, real-time data via WebSockets or server-sent events, and third-party SDKs such as identity (OIDC), KYC, and payment solutions.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, React Native Testing Library, Vitest, or Playwright, along with CI/CD pipelines and code reviews.

• Ability to collaborate efficiently with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering personnel.

• Strong analytical skills and the capability to work autonomously when necessary.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where products and priorities are subject to change.

• Basic understanding of backend fundamentals, including database querying and service interactions beyond the BFF layer.

• At least foundational knowledge of Kafka and Redis; hands-on experience is preferred.

• Preferred: experience in fintech, trading, financial services, gaming, or any transaction-oriented digital product.

• Preferred: familiarity with real-time data or financial transactions.

• Awareness of observability tools like Sentry, OpenTelemetry, or similar.

• Familiarity with charting libraries such as lightweight-charts.
