This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Design, develop, maintain, and support essential cloud platform components that facilitate Ford’s connected vehicle functionalities.
• Oversee the complete delivery of software services that enhance critical customer experiences and support platform infrastructure.
• Serve as the domain expert for vital services, proactively identifying and addressing risks.
• Lead root-cause analyses for high-severity incidents.
• Propel improvements in reliability, observability, and performance throughout the platform.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for complex distributed systems.
• Influence design choices, establish engineering standards, and ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, and secure.
• Mentor engineers and engage in technical reviews, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of best practices.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and cross-platform teams to synchronize technical execution with business and regulatory priorities.
• Design, develop, enhance, and operate global distributed microservices and cloud-native platforms.
• Lead performance benchmarking, capacity planning, and load testing initiatives.
• Ensure operational readiness, service health, monitoring, tracing, logging, metrics, alerting, incident response, and adherence to SLAs.
• Advocate for platform modernization and architectural enhancements.
• Assess implications related to security, compliance, cost, downstream consumers, and external partners.
• Conduct design reviews, define best practices, and guide technical direction.
• Align technical decisions with customer experience, business results, and platform sustainability.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in designing, building, and operating production-grade distributed microservices.
• 8+ years of expertise in Java and Spring Boot development.
• 5+ years of practical experience with Kafka and real-time data streaming architectures.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, primarily AWS, with an openness to GCP.
• 3+ years of experience in API design and development, including REST, gRPC, JSON, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
• 3+ years of experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, including ArgoCD, Concourse, and GitHub.
• 3+ years of operational experience with monitoring, telemetry, and incident response tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, DataDog, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, and PagerDuty.
• Experience with primary/secondary on-call rotations.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes/EKS, TDD, SonarQube, and FOSSA.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Candidates must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
