Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Design and create high-quality software while guiding features from technical design to delivery.

• Produce technical design documentation and assist in creating end-user documentation.

• Diagnose and resolve software issues during the development phase and in production.

• Enhance software development lifecycle practices and promote agile engineering best practices.

• Spearhead the design and implementation of security features.

• Develop production-grade software and services using Golang and Python, including APIs and Flask or FastAPI services.

• Construct and manage scalable cloud-native applications and infrastructure utilizing Kubernetes, Helm, AWS, and Terraform.

• Engage with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis to ensure reliable production systems.

• Contribute to web applications and user experiences utilizing React and NextJS.

• Facilitate automated build, test, and deployment workflows with GitLab CI, GitHub Workflows, or similar tools.

• Identify product integration opportunities to create enhanced customer value.

• Evaluate market needs, product adoption, competition, and related metrics in design choices.

• Review and test code to enhance scalability, speed, and reliability.

• Monitor production systems, detect risks, resolve errors, and escalate issues as necessary.

• Provide support for on-call escalations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, estimate timelines, track milestones, and successfully deliver projects.

• Share knowledge through presentations, documentation, blogs, newsletters, and other communication channels.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience.

• Proven experience in developing production software, including clean, functional code and unit tests.

• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving software issues in both development and production settings.

• Familiarity with code reviews, testing, and software engineering practices that emphasize scalability, reliability, and quality.

• Background in creating technical designs and leading software features from conception to delivery.

• Proficiency in Golang or Python.

• Experience with APIs and Flask or FastAPI.

• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, AWS, and Terraform.

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, or similar databases and data storage solutions.

• Experience with React, NextJS, and CI/CD tools.

• Understanding of secure software development, threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and vulnerability management.

• Familiarity with production monitoring, incident response, postmortems, and root cause analysis.

• Ability to utilize AI/ML or generative AI to address security challenges.

• Familiarity with LLMs, AI agents, embeddings, or other machine-learning capabilities.

• Demonstrated collaboration with Product Management, Design, Security, and engineering teams.

• Capability to mentor engineers and disseminate technical knowledge.
