Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• You will become an integral part of our engineering team, contributing to the platform that facilitates global fulfillment—managing orders, inventory, shipments, and returns across our network daily.

• Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, your role will extend beyond writing production-quality code: you will take full ownership of core services from start to finish, mentor fellow engineers, influence significant technical decisions, and help define our development approach.

• Develop the core platform. Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure services and APIs within our serverless cloud environment, primarily utilizing Go and React.

• Take full ownership. Guide domain-specific services from architectural design through deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting root causes of issues—you build it, you manage it.

• Innovate with AI. Utilize modern AI-driven development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) daily to expedite delivery, while establishing the benchmarks for integrating AI into our engineering practices.

• Promote engineering excellence. Enhance development workflows, testing, deployment, and observability. Release frequently and efficiently—keeping the code minimal, as the best code is often the code you don’t need to write.

• Elevate the team. Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions, contributing to the evolution of our engineering culture and best practices.

• In Your First 90 Days, You Will: Familiarize yourself with the platform comprehensively and deliver your first production code in the initial weeks.

• Assume responsibility for a domain-specific service, overseeing it from design to deployment and monitoring.

• Establish your AI-enhanced engineering workflow and share effective practices with the team.

• Begin to elevate standards through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 2 years of experience in a senior software engineering position, preferably in a startup setting.

• Strong backend fundamentals and substantial commercial experience with Go, or a robust systems background in another language with a strong motivation to quickly master Go.

• Extensive knowledge of AWS, event-driven architectures, and serverless infrastructures such as AWS Lambda.

• Proficient in designing and building RESTful APIs, with a solid understanding of microservices and serverless architectures.

• AI-native—proficient in using AI-powered development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and genuinely enthusiastic about utilizing them daily.

• A pragmatic builder skilled at simplifying complex systems and delivering scalable solutions.

• A product-oriented perspective—deeply committed to addressing real user needs, rather than just producing output.

• Bonus Points (Nice to Have): Strong experience in React or front-end development.

• Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.

• Background in e-commerce, logistics, or supply chain management.

• Experience in mentoring engineers or leading technical projects.
