Senior Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product managers, scientific and clinical stakeholders, internal teams, and development and support staff to convert requirements into integrations, services, and solutions that enhance Beacon's data platform.

• Implement features with a strong focus on data integrity, sound design, and maintainability.

• Create RFCs to guide intricate feature discovery and technical design stages.

• Ensure data accuracy during transitions between systems, including completeness, idempotency, and predictable behavior in the event of partial failures.

• Enhance the operational robustness and user-friendliness of the Datastore and its services through comprehensive documentation, tools, and dashboards.

• Design and scale backend data infrastructure that incorporates PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and a GraphQL API.

• Lead the design and integration of new services and components for data and event processing.

• Manage pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.

• Work collaboratively with platform and application teams to implement APIs that support clinical studies and digital health products.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• A minimum of 2 years dedicated to data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications.

• Strong SQL proficiency.

• Production experience with PostgreSQL as an application database.

• Ability to manually write and optimize queries while reasoning about schema design, indexes, and query plans.

• Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka or similar technologies like RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.

• Proficiency in Julia or Python.

• Experience in deploying and operating services within containerized environments.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Helm.

• Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js).

• A collaborative mindset.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly in asynchronous and remote-friendly settings.

• A self-directed approach and a proven ability to thrive in hybrid or fully remote teams.
