This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Produce high-quality, thoroughly tested code while leading technical discussions.
• Recognize and address risks, estimate large-scale projects, and promote technical investments.
• Evaluate and enhance system performance, focusing on latency, throughput, and resource usage.
• Contribute to significant system designs, document Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), and facilitate design reviews.
• Advance scalable, secure, and maintainable architecture utilizing threat modeling and secure design methodologies.
• Align objectives and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, QA, Security, and Infrastructure.
• Mentor engineers, guide junior team members, and participate in interviews and calibration sessions.
• Oversee extensive, ambiguous projects from delivery planning through to production and maintenance.
• Enhance engineering standards and eliminate obstacles.
• Manage incident responses and conduct postmortems for team services.
• Make both short- and long-term decisions to sustain platform health.
• Utilize AI tools for prototyping, service scaffolding, proof-of-concepts, design exploration, and minimizing boilerplate.
• Review, test, and take ownership of all AI-assisted outputs that are deployed.
• Assist the team in effectively and responsibly leveraging AI.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience with senior-level accountability and delivery.
• Strong proficiency in full stack development, with expertise in at least one specific layer.
• Demonstrated experience in architecting and delivering complex distributed systems within cloud-native environments such as AWS, serverless architectures, and containers.
• Capability to lead large, ambiguous projects from design to production.
• Experience in mentoring engineers and elevating team-wide technical standards.
• Excellent communication skills; proficient in writing clear RFCs, leading design reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional partners.
• Familiarity with secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices, threat modeling, security reviews, and DevSecOps principles.
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards like FHIR or HL7 is a plus.
• Understanding of compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC2 is advantageous.
• Familiarity with data engineering technologies including Spark, data lake/lakehouse architectures, and workflow orchestration is beneficial.
• Experience with platform services or large-scale data ingestion and processing pipelines is desirable.
• Experience in remote-first and distributed-team environments is a plus.
