This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Create and develop new REST or GraphQL APIs using Go that are secure, efficient, versioned, and thoroughly documented.
• Take ownership of the API as the integration layer and transitional architecture for Sharetec's Core modernization project.
• Design and implement complex scalable workloads that adhere to modern API standards and deployment practices (Docker, OAuth2/2.1, JWT, OpenAPI/Swagger, Terraform, etc.).
• Establish API design standards, contracts, and shared libraries for reuse by other teams.
• Assess and recommend tools and frameworks that enhance developer productivity and the reliability of integrations.
• Construct the data-normalization layer that aligns new services with the existing data schema.
• Develop the central integration hub that connects various distinct systems through a unified normalization model.
• Collaborate with core processing engineers to ensure that integration contracts remain consistent with the evolving platform of record.
• Maintain data integrity, observability, and effective failure handling across all integration endpoints.
• Guide and mentor mid-level and junior engineers in API and integration design.
• Facilitate design discussions and code reviews, fostering a culture of clear communication and shared responsibility.
• Convert business and product requirements into technical solutions in partnership with product managers and QA.
• Contribute to documentation, internal tools, and process enhancements that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the entire team.
• Over 6 years of professional experience in software development, including senior or technical leadership roles on complex initiatives.
• In-depth, hands-on expertise in Go for developing backend and API services.
• Significant experience in designing REST or GraphQL APIs from scratch (not merely consuming third-party APIs).
• Practical experience in designing and building intricate containerized workloads.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code solutions such as Terraform or similar tools.
• Strong skills in database design and data architecture, including data normalization and transitional/strangler-pattern architectures (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar).
• Good understanding of API security, versioning, performance optimization, and observability.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
