This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and develop Alpaca’s developer platform for agents, including MCP servers, tools, skills, and the underlying APIs.

• Adapt the platform in line with evolving MCP protocol and standards for connectors, plugins, and skills.

• Develop new APIs that provide trading and account functionalities accessible to applications and agents.

• Determine the components that the platform presents, allowing developers and partners to expedite app development using shared building blocks.

• Ensure that Alpaca’s execution model aligns with the MCP protocol as well as connector, plugin, and skill standards, translating updates into the application architecture of the developer platform.

• Take ownership of production reliability and quality for the developed services.

• Provide mentorship to engineers and enhance the quality of design and implementation.

• Lead through architectural decisions, code reviews, design assessments, and mentorship while collaborating with Product, Compliance, Risk, and Platform Engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, with accountability for production systems utilized by other developers.

• Successfully launched a developer-facing API, SDK, or platform as a key contributor.

• Familiarity with MCP architecture, capable of working with both stateless and stateful behavior, and experience in developing to MCP or connector, plugin, or skill standards as they have evolved in a production environment.

• Strong skills in API design, including schemas, compatibility, and reliable responses for other developers.

• Proficient in Python or TypeScript, with a readiness to primarily work in Go.

• Excellent architectural judgment, demonstrated by a history of delivering products while requirements are still being finalized.

• Effective communication skills with engineers, product teams, compliance, and risk partners.
