Senior Network Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and manage large-scale distributed systems.

• Take ownership of the complete shipping lifecycle, which includes creating and managing services in production.

• Integrate various external APIs and services, such as cloud providers and platform first parties.

• Analyze and reduce platform costs from the design phase through continuous optimization.

• Establish engineering standards, operational practices, and documentation for both internal teams and external partners.

• Collaborate directly with stakeholders from other departments to implement new features.

• Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers.

• Engage in on-call or live-service support as required.

• Enjoy playing the game.

• Report to the Networking Lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software engineering experience, specializing in backend, network, infrastructure, platform, or distributed systems.

• While we mainly utilize Kotlin, experience with JVM is not mandatory—please share the backend languages and tools you have used.

• Demonstrated experience with databases: traditional RDBMS, persistent NoSQL, and caching layers.

• Strong understanding of concurrency, asynchronous techniques, and consistency trade-offs.

• Proficient in working within a Linux environment using the command line.

• A security-focused mindset across all layers: network, code, and database.

• Familiarity with the foundational networking stack: DNS, routing, packet capture, and analysis.

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.

• Previous experience with Xbox Live, Valve Steamworks, or PlayStation Network.

• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, GCP.

• Experience in supporting live-service games or other live online platforms.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment systems.

• Experience leading documentation for live operations: runbooks, incident procedures, and post-mortems.

• Experience in designing for global regulatory compliance in online products.
