Senior Software Engineer – Advisory Suite

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Your role involves developing Alpaca's unique suite of services to fulfill our users' demands for high-quality performance in various advisory services, including Block Trading, Portfolio Management, and IRAs.

• This position mirrors the experience of joining early-stage companies like AWS or Heroku, where you'll be responsible for designing and architecting our platform while taking on various roles within our small team.

• As a seasoned engineer, you'll be tasked with extensive coding and making pivotal decisions to ensure the best experience for our customers.

• This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of both frontend and backend development, databases, and distributed systems, alongside a wide-ranging experience from low-level to high-level CPU hardware for optimizing throughput, robust concurrency system design, and abstract distributed system architecture aimed at high availability, all while focusing on object-oriented data modeling for sustainable growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in system design, including object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and system abstraction.

• A strong, experienced software engineer with a preference for those with Senior-level experience.

• Proficient in both low and high-level programming languages, including C/C++, Go, Zig, Rust, Java, Scala, and Python.

• Expertise in low latency and high throughput optimization.

• Familiarity with messaging queues and message brokers.

• An analytical, data-oriented mindset with applicable skills.

• Comprehensive knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, low latency systems, and concurrency control.

• Experience in developing and implementing Order Management Systems (OMS) and/or high-load financial transactional systems.
