Senior Software Developer – Engineering Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and provide support for firm-wide Revit automation tools and associated engineering applications.

• Lead the Automation focus group and maintain a strategic roadmap grounded in business value, technical feasibility, and user feedback.

• Stay actively involved in software architecture and development utilizing C#/.NET, the Revit API, WPF, and Python.

• Collect requirements and convert engineering workflows into scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly solutions.

• Create integrations across Autodesk products, engineering systems, data sources, internal applications, and selected Autodesk Platform Services APIs.

• Set development standards for architecture, coding, testing, documentation, source control, and release management.

• Track reliability, usage, adoption, and feedback to inform continuous improvement and product prioritization.

• Offer code reviews, technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to fellow automation developers.

• Assess emerging Autodesk technologies, software practices, and practical AI opportunities for engineering workflows.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Over 7 years of relevant software development, BIM automation, or design-technology experience within the AEC industry.

• Strong practical expertise in Autodesk Revit, engineering workflows, and production development with the Revit API.

• Advanced skills in C#/.NET.

• Proficient in Python for automation, integration, or data processing.

• Familiarity with WPF or similar desktop UI technologies.

• Experience in object-oriented design and maintainable software architecture.

• Proficient with Git, code review processes, testing, CI/CD, deployment, and support for production applications.

• Proven technical leadership and sound architectural judgment.

• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Preferred: Experience with Autodesk Platform Services, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Forma, or the AEC Data Model.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting multiple Revit versions and enterprise application packaging, updating, telemetry, or error monitoring.

• Preferred: Experience leading a product roadmap and mentoring junior or mid-level developers.

• Preferred: Experience developing tools for various engineering disciplines.

• Preferred: Familiarity with practical AI integration in engineering applications and workflows.

• Occasional travel to Salas O’Brien offices, team meetings, and company events is required.
