Senior Software Developer, Delivery Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Advance progressive delivery utilizing Argo Rollouts and GitOps by refining canary deployment strategies, health checks, rollback triggers, and self-service deployment tools.

• Enhance CI/CD infrastructure, reduce build times, manage artifacts, and optimize package publishing workflows for hundreds of services.

• Design and implement deployment gates and guardrails, which include end-to-end testing, load testing, and validations for progressive delivery.

• Develop deployment monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and visibility using Datadog, custom tools, and Backstage.

• Propel Wealthsimple's reliability goals through chaos testing frameworks, automated rollbacks, and metrics for deployment confidence.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify deployment challenges and create solutions that enhance velocity.

• Share knowledge through comprehensive documentation, training sessions, and code reviews.

• Mentor mid-level engineers throughout the organization.

• Utilize metrics to establish baselines, define targets, measure outcomes, and influence technical decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software development within a team, with substantial experience in platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD, or site reliability engineering.

• Profound knowledge of Kubernetes, GitOps workflows such as ArgoCD, progressive delivery patterns, and large-scale CI/CD infrastructure.

• Familiarity with canary deployments, blue-green deployment strategies, and automated rollback processes.

• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining CI/CD systems using Buildkite, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.

• Capability to optimize build times, manage artifacts, and guarantee pipeline reliability.

• Experience in creating observable systems with Datadog, Prometheus, or similar monitoring solutions.

• Knowledge of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and resilient system metrics.

• Proficiency in TypeScript, Ruby, Python, Kotlin, or similar programming languages.

• Familiarity with AWS, Terraform, or other infrastructure automation tools.

• Ability to construct reproducible, version-controlled, and scalable infrastructure.

• A product-oriented mindset for internal platforms, with the capability to understand developer challenges and assess impact.

• A collaborative attitude and a passion for mentoring others.

• Comfort in presenting technical concepts to varied audiences and fostering consensus across teams.

• Skills in data-informed decision-making, including establishing baselines, setting targets, and tracking progress.
