This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
β’ Evaluate current .NET Framework applications, including their dependencies, integration points, and data access methodologies, and develop modernization strategies that include sequencing and risk assessments.
β’ Adjust application code to accommodate PostgreSQL as the backend, in addition to migrating the underlying data.
β’ Deconstruct and transition legacy ADO.NET and older Entity Framework data access layers to contemporary patterns.
β’ Shift Oracle database workloads to PostgreSQL, which involves schema transformation, translating PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL, addressing data type and collation mismatches, rewriting queries, and validating performance targets.
β’ Create characterization tests, data-tier integration tests, and automated comparisons between legacy and new outputs.
β’ Collaborate with client architects, DBAs, and product owners; articulate trade-offs and document decisions made.
β’ Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and system observability.
β’ Mentor mid-level developers and evaluate code for maintainability.
β’ Over 10 years of professional experience in software development, with extensive expertise in C# and .NET.
β’ Strong, up-to-date knowledge of .NET Framework 4.8 and its legacy stack β including ASP.NET MVC/Web API, Web Forms, WCF, IIS, and Windows Services.
β’ Proven experience in modernizing or migrating existing applications, rather than focusing solely on greenfield development.
β’ Strong relational database expertise: writing and optimizing SQL, interpreting execution plans, and understanding transaction and isolation behaviors.
β’ Practical experience with Oracle technologies β including PL/SQL, packages, procedures, triggers, and sequences β sufficient to comprehend and analyze business logic embedded within the database.
β’ Familiarity with source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD processes in a collaborative environment (Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).
β’ Strong communication skills to interact effectively with non-engineers and perform well in situations with incomplete requirements.
β’ Advanced English proficiency (C1/C2), as reflected in the application responses.
β’ Open to candidates from Latin America; remote work available in Brazil.
β’ Fully remote position.
β’ Full-time hourly commitment.
β’ Initial engagement of 2 months with the potential for extension.
