Senior Software Developer, API Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Construct the Gateway: Design, develop, scale, and oversee our stateless API gateway, functioning as the highly efficient entry point for all Miovision applications and services.

• Architect for Scalability: Maintain clear architectural boundaries by preserving domain business logic within dedicated services, strictly using the platform API layer for routing, access control, and adherence to formatting standards.

• Commercialize the API: Integrate usage tracking, billing hooks, tenant-aware access control, and robust observability into the platform from the outset.

• Govern and Standardize: Collaborate with Architecture, Product, Security, and domain teams to enforce stringent API governance, covering versioning, backward compatibility, API linting, and contract testing.

• Enable AI & Automation: Design machine-readable, agent-friendly API contracts that allow our AI chatbot (Mateo), MCP servers, and future AI agents to securely discover and utilize Miovision capabilities.

• Drive Consensus: Lead cross-team alignment on intricate domain modeling, resource naming, and API structures, transforming challenging discussions into clear, lasting API contracts.

• Publish & Document: Develop clear service catalog entries and user-friendly documentation, enabling consumers to easily discover, comprehend, and adopt platform capabilities.

• Code & Mentor: Actively engage in writing high-quality code (mainly in Kotlin or Go), make use of AI-assisted development tools (such as AMP), and mentor colleagues through in-depth technical design and code reviews.

• The API Architect: You have successfully designed, implemented, and scaled a centralized API gateway within a highly complex, multi-service production environment.

• The Domain Modeler: You possess extensive experience in Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and API-first methodologies (utilizing OpenAPI), with a proven ability to drive cross-team consensus on intricate data structures.

• The Platform Builder: You are adept at taking fragmented internal services or APIs and skillfully transforming them into a cohesive, commercially viable developer platform or service catalog.

• The Code Craftsman: You showcase expert-level proficiency in Kotlin, complemented by significant hands-on experience in cloud-native ecosystems including Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS.

• The Security Sentinel: You have effectively implemented and enforced robust authentication and authorization patterns at the edge, employing modern protocols like OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and platforms such as Auth0.

• The AI Enthusiast: You exhibit a solid understanding of—or a keen interest in—how AI agents, LLMs, and frameworks like MCP (Model Context Protocol) interact seamlessly and securely with APIs.
