This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +2 more states.
• Analyze SNAP data and research to uncover trends, disparities, implementation challenges, and opportunities for enhancing program accessibility.
• Assess existing or proposed legislation, regulations, policies, and practices.
• Offer guidance to defend, enhance, and broaden SNAP’s positive effects.
• Suggest policy modifications to streamline processes, improve accessibility, and boost SNAP compliance.
• Draft or assist in creating persuasive analytic and research documents, guides, outreach materials, and reports.
• Present findings to diverse audiences at local, state, regional, and national conferences and meetings.
• Provide information, technical assistance, analysis, training, strategic advice, and hands-on support to organizations, agencies, nonprofits, and activists.
• Offer expertise and support to other program areas and departments as assigned by the SNAP Director.
• Represent FRAC at coalition and partner meetings.
• Assist in managing regrants to national, state, and local nonprofits while providing technical assistance to regrantees.
• Carry out other assigned tasks.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in advocacy, program operations, policy analysis, and/or organizing.
• An advanced degree in public policy, law, public administration, social work, economics, public health, or a related field is required.
• Proven knowledge of SNAP.
• Strong skills in policy research, analysis, and writing.
• Ability to interpret complex statutes, regulations, and administrative guidance.
• Capability to evaluate policies, processes, or programs to identify issues and recommend solutions.
• Proficiency in communicating technical policy issues clearly to both specialized and non-technical audiences.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience in nonprofit, government, or policy work is highly preferred.
• Preference for candidates who can engage input from individuals with lived experiences of hunger and poverty.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
