This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Become a part of SandboxAQ's Information Security team and insider threat initiative.
• Collaborate with HR, Information Security, and Legal departments to assess, evaluate, and quantify personnel-related risks.
• Take charge of investigations from the initial intake to the final reporting stage.
• Utilize OSINT and commercial investigative tools for thorough information gathering and research.
• Confirm the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of information from existing sources.
• Conduct quantitative risk assessments using a standardized and repeatable methodology.
• Identify, prioritize, and address both internal and external personnel security risks.
• Manage sensitive personal data with utmost confidentiality.
• Promptly escalate high-risk or uncertain findings to leadership.
• Improve investigative methodologies, risk-scoring models, research protocols, and reporting standards.
• Execute research and analysis in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.
• Provide detailed analytical reports and actionable recommendations to executive stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Intelligence Studies, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in background investigations, due diligence research, employment screening, corporate investigations, intelligence analysis, or similar investigative roles, particularly with US-based individuals or organizations.
• Proficiency in investigative research databases and tools or proven ability to quickly learn commercial research platforms.
• Excellent written communication skills with the capability to distill complex findings into clear and concise risk assessments and reports.
• Understanding of privacy laws and ethical standards that govern background investigations and employment screenings.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple investigations while maintaining accurate documentation and consistent investigative practices.
• Capability to exercise discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential, sensitive, or potentially adverse information.
• Familiarity with open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques and tools for investigating individuals and corporate entities.
• Knowledge of insider threat frameworks, indicators of compromise, or personnel security principles, including NISPOM and SEAD guidelines.
• Awareness of foreign influence risk factors, export control regulations (ITAR/EAR), or intellectual property protection issues within a corporate context.
• Previous experience in corporate security, information security, or risk management roles.
• Relevant certifications such as Certified Background Investigator (CBI), PBSA membership, FCRA certification, or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
