This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Oversee the daily security operations of the client contract.
• Act as the primary contact for network and service-related issues that require immediate decision-making and resolution.
• Function as a senior engineer with the authority to direct Contractor technical personnel and subcontractors.
• Ensure 24x7x365 availability either directly or through designated backups for NOC and SOC issues as well as urgent State requests.
• Serve as a senior engineering liaison for security-related escalations and resolution of issues.
• Guide Contractor personnel and subcontractors in the responsibilities of NOC/SOC.
• Act as the authoritative figure for real-time security escalations, investigations, and urgent State requests.
• Coordinate incident response efforts with NOC/SOC and executive teams.
• Engage in technical security workgroups, policy advisory boards, tabletop exercises, and committees.
• Supervise the implementation of network and security operations, performance monitoring, and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain telecommunications service performance and uphold security best practices across the contract environment.
• Enforce enterprise-wide security policies, identify anomalies, and respond to threats.
• Collaborate with internal security analysts, auditors, and client cybersecurity leads.
• Oversee comprehensive SOC operations, including detection, triage, containment, and recovery processes.
• Ensure compliance with state cybersecurity policies, vendor security clauses, and SLA-based security requirements.
• Lead internal security audits, vulnerability assessments, and verification of patch management.
• Manage SOC analysts, security engineers, subcontractors, and Tier 2/3 staff during operations and incidents.
• Assume command during major cybersecurity incidents such as zero-day threats, data breaches, and coordinated attacks.
• Translate complex security risks into business language for clients and executive stakeholders.
• High School diploma with 12 years of relevant experience; supervisory or leadership experience is a plus.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to successfully pass a Florida State Department background check.
• Experience in operational or security engineering positions.
• Experience in managing SIEM platforms, security analytic tools, endpoint detection, triage, containment, and recovery efforts.
• Extensive knowledge of threat intelligence, DDoS mitigation, and the incident response lifecycle.
• Proficient in MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, firewalls, and access control within a large-scale telecommunications environment.
• Skilled in securing Internet gateways, centralized VPN infrastructure, public/private VRFs, and customer edge devices (CPE).
• Familiar with zero-trust architectures, network segmentation, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Experience with frameworks such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, CJIS, FedRamp, or their equivalents.
• Professional certifications, including CISM, CISSP, GIAC, CCNP Security, or ITIL v4, are highly preferred.
• Knowledge of SIEM tools like Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel, and LogRhythm.
• Familiarity with firewall/IDS/IPS tools such as Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, Fortinet, and Snort.
• Knowledge of DDoS mitigation tools, including Arbor, Radware, and Akamai.
• Familiarity with EDR/XDR tools such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, and Microsoft Defender.
• Knowledge of IAM/MFA tools, including Okta, Azure AD, and Duo Security.
• Eligible for overtime compensation.
• Shift differential may be available.
• Discretionary bonus potential may be available.
