Senior Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and implement security solutions for products, internal applications, infrastructure, enterprise systems, and observability.

• Perform threat modeling for both existing systems and new product initiatives.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into development and delivery processes.

• Create, fine-tune, and automate security alerts, detections, observability, and response workflows utilizing AI and agents.

• Engage in and assist with incident response as part of the on-call rotation.

• Support governance, compliance, and regulatory initiatives, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, and PCI.

• Mentor engineers and disseminate security best practices throughout the organization.

• Contribute to the development of security priorities and technical direction.

• Foster relationships with internal stakeholders and external security vendors.

• Enhance Shakepay’s AI platform by applying AI to security engineering, observability, testing, detection, and response.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in security engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field, with significant experience in security.

• Strong technical expertise in one or more security domains, with the capacity to operate effectively across related domains.

• Advanced, hands-on experience with AI tools, agents, and automation to enhance the scale and effectiveness of security engineering efforts.

• Experience in cloud environments; AWS is preferred.

• Practical experience with incident response and participating in on-call rotations.

• Excellent communication skills, sound technical judgment, and a strong sense of ownership.

• Experience in fintech, crypto, or other regulated sectors is a bonus.

• Familiarity with product security and influencing product design is a bonus.

• Experience with AI-assisted security testing, offensive security, vulnerability research, detection engineering, or security observability is a bonus.

• Knowledge of Bitcoin is a bonus.

• Proficiency in using Git/GitHub for collaboration and process management is a bonus.

• Fluency in English is mandatory.
