Senior Safety & Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Head of Safety and Head of Systems to:

• Design, analyze, and execute Verification & Validation (V&V) processes for the architecture of autonomous vehicle systems.

• Develop autonomous driving systems in conjunction with cross-functional teams and construct a safety case that documents and defends the integrity of the solution.

• Lead the creation, evolution, and implementation of reliable, safety-critical systems for autonomous driving within airport environments.

• Assist in:

• Defining and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for data-driven engineering and system performance.

• Developing data collection and analysis pipelines to facilitate V&V processes.

• Establishing safety goals and requirements based on Operational Design Domain (ODD), hazards, and risks.

• Creating and managing documentation for requirements, traceability, and system architecture.

• Shaping system behaviors for critical safety scenarios to ensure robust designs.

• Identifying and communicating risks while coordinating solutions and mitigations across teams.

• Designing an innovative safety framework for autonomous airside driving.

• Establishing, supervising, and maintaining rigorous engineering standards essential for fail-safe performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Practical experience in systems engineering (e.g., V Model, requirements documentation, traceability, V&V).

• Experience in generating safety artifacts for complex autonomous systems, such as Hazard Analyses (HARAs), Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), and System Theoretic Process Analyses (STPAs).

• Background in developing and deploying robotic systems and/or autonomous vehicles that include safety-critical components.

• Basic knowledge of functional safety and Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF).

• Experience with data analysis and reporting, including foundational proficiency in Python/SQL and/or a willingness to learn.

• Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions at all organizational levels.

• A hands-on approach with a readiness to engage thoroughly and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
