Information Communications Technology Systems Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop comprehensive designs, specifications, and documentation for low voltage and communication systems tailored for healthcare environments.

• Create and enhance technical drawings and system layouts utilizing various software tools.

• Conduct practical assessments of healthcare IT and communication system requirements.

• Perform site surveys at construction locations to identify and resolve technical challenges.

• Review and address contractor submittals and RFIs to ensure they align with design objectives.

• Clearly and effectively communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to facilitate coordination and problem-solving.

• Collaborate closely with internal design teams to guarantee seamless integration of systems into broader project frameworks.

• Familiarize yourself with regulatory and compliance standards to ensure designs meet industry codes.

• Work in partnership with healthcare users and IT/Facilities/Biomedical teams to grasp their operational requirements and convert them into practical design solutions.

• Participate in workshops, planning sessions, and technical discussions to provide impactful, user-centered solutions.

• Generate detailed cost estimates and budgets, ensuring solutions are in line with client objectives and project limitations.

• Identify avenues for enhancing efficiency, constructability, and sustainability in systems design.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, or at least 5 years of equivalent experience without a degree, focusing on the design and implementation of low voltage and communication systems.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in designing and overseeing construction quality control for all the following systems as part of the A/E design team on hospital projects: access control, video surveillance, structured cabling, overhead paging, nurse call, A/V, and television signal distribution.

• A thorough comprehension of the specific challenges and requirements related to healthcare IT and communication systems, including adherence to healthcare-specific regulations and standards.

• Experience in translating design requirements into Revit designs and producing construction documentation.

• Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel).

• A practical approach to problem-solving and implementing solutions.

• Strong skills in technical documentation and drafting.

• Excellent team communication skills, with comfort in participating in design meetings.

• Preferred: Experience in designing and overseeing construction quality control for any of the following systems as part of the A/E design team on hospital projects: AV, 802.11 wireless, data network, VoIP, IT end user device placement, synchronized clocks, infant abduction, and/or two-way radio.

• Experience in user meetings to define the requirements for each technology system and the placement of relevant devices within a facility.
