This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Recognize employee injury and illness risks while delivering workers' compensation cost management services.
• Collaborate with policyholders and internal stakeholders to mitigate potential losses for policyholders.
• Assist in effective workers' compensation underwriting through prompt and precise policy rating and risk assessment.
• Conduct designated underwriting evaluations at both prospect and policyholder sites to assess business operations, significant employee injury and illness risks, and control measures.
• Recognize and assess workplace safety and health risks, including manual material handling and ergonomics, machinery and equipment, falls, motor vehicles, and occupational diseases.
• Review the effectiveness of safety and health programs for both prospects and policyholders.
• Identify advanced engineering or administrative measures to minimize workers’ compensation loss risks.
• Create safety and health service plans and provide ongoing consultation to designated service accounts.
• Formulate and present suggestions aimed at reducing employee injury and illness risks and lowering workers’ compensation expenses for policyholders.
• Persuade vital policyholder decision-makers to adopt safety and health recommendations.
• Generate impactful reports for policyholders and internal partners.
• Execute thorough investigations of serious workers’ compensation incidents.
• Coordinate safety and health services for policyholders across single and multi-regional areas.
• Design and deliver training for policyholders.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a preferred field such as occupational safety, industrial hygiene, science, or engineering; or relevant work experience is desired.
• Attainment or significant progress towards a safety or health-related master's degree or at least one recognized professional certification like CSP, ARM, or CIH is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of safety and health experience with a demonstrated history of results is essential.
• Familiarity with property and casualty insurance agent and broker operations is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of workers’ compensation insurance, including experience modification, underwriting, and claims practices.
• Working knowledge of return-to-work program features and benefits.
• Strong grasp of key performance metrics for workers’ compensation insurance carriers and the impact of the Safety & Health department on financial performance.
• Basic understanding of the features and benefits of occupational medicine provider networks.
• A valid Driver's License in good standing is required.
