This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Take ownership of the ROS2 communications and middleware framework across drone and MHEV platforms, which includes the Zenoh-based communications layer, behavior trees, and system integration.
• Manage and enhance the Docker containers utilized by our robotics software, ensuring they remain efficient, dependable, and consistently deployable in the field.
• Create diagnostics and observability tools that provide insights into the health of the communications layer and operational services, ranging from low-level logging to dashboard visibility.
• Establish and oversee deployment processes to ensure software updates are reliably and safely implemented on field hardware.
• Develop a strategic roadmap aimed at merging our drone and MHEV architectures into a single cohesive platform over time, and spearhead the execution of this convergence.
• Provide support to both Autonomy team pods for drone and MHEV projects, adapting to their needs as priorities evolve.
• Practical experience in building and operating a functional robotics system, such as drones, autonomous vehicles, or any platform with a significant communications layer between nodes.
• Extensive expertise in ROS2, including middleware, DDS or Zenoh, logging, and system integration.
• Production-level experience with Docker containers in a robotics or embedded environment, which encompasses container design, service management, and deployment.
• Strong background in observability and diagnostics, with knowledge of what to log, how to organize it, and how to identify failures in a distributed system.
• Self-motivated and proactive, capable of recognizing and implementing solutions without waiting for specific instructions.
