Senior Risk Engineering Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Conduct on-site property risk assessments independently for both existing and prospective policyholders with limited exposure.

• Identify significant loss drivers, as well as property risk engineering exposures or deficiencies.

• Provide consultations to customers and insured parties regarding practical solutions and recommendations for risk improvement.

• Assess high-hazard environments, including but not limited to plastics manufacturing, aerosols, perfumes, sawmills, and other operations that are either combustible or reliant on sprinklers.

• Create technical reports on property risk engineering and related documents that suggest controls aimed at minimizing potential loss frequency and magnitude.

• Collaborate with Risk Analysts to address recognized deficiencies in property risk engineering.

• Work alongside Technical/Project Specialists on initiatives and projects related to risk engineering.

• Guide and mentor less experienced and junior Risk Engineering Consultants.

• Regularly coordinate with both internal and external resources on risks of varying complexities.

• Contribute input to projects associated with risk engineering.

• Travel for field inspections, which may include occasional overnight stays and infrequent air travel outside of the territory.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred.

• Over 8 years of experience in technical and/or engineering-related roles.

• Experience in property risk management, particularly with high-hazard property exposures, is required.

• Strong knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards or equivalent Factory Mutual Guidelines.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word.

• Basic familiarity with Excel.

• Must be capable of regular travel by car, with limited air travel.

• Solid understanding of essential and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Excellent communication abilities, particularly in conveying difficult or technical decisions with confidence and clarity.

• High level of proficiency in core competencies of Property Risk Engineering.

• Direct experience in property risk engineering is mandatory; backgrounds solely in EHS or health and safety are not suitable.
