This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Conduct on-site property risk assessments and field inspections independently for both existing and limited prospective policyholders.
• Identify significant loss drivers, property risk engineering exposures, deficiencies, and suitable controls.
• Collaborate with insured parties and customers to provide practical recommendations for risk improvement and address deficiencies.
• Create technical property risk engineering reports and associated documentation.
• Work together with Risk Analysts to develop solutions for insured risks.
• Collaborate with Technical/Project Specialists on risk engineering projects and initiatives.
• Mentor junior and less experienced Risk Engineering Consultants.
• Coordinate with internal and external resources regarding risks of varying complexity levels.
• Evaluate evolving industrial processes and offer technical judgment.
• Travel within the designated region, which may include occasional overnight stays and rare out-of-territory air travel.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline is preferred.
• Over 8 years of experience in technical and/or engineering-related roles.
• Required property experience that includes exposure to high-hazard properties.
• Experience in assessing high-hazard operations such as plastics manufacturing, aerosols, perfumes, sawmills, and other combustible or sprinkler-dependent industries.
• Extensive expertise in property risk engineering.
• Strong knowledge of sprinkler systems.
• Experience in standard and middle-market property sectors, particularly with modern manufacturing risks.
• Solid understanding of NFPA Codes and Standards or equivalent Factory Mutual Guidelines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and possess basic knowledge of Excel.
• Ability to travel by car regularly, with limited air travel required.
• Strong grasp of fundamental and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex or technical decisions with confidence and clarity.
• High proficiency in core competencies related to Property Risk Engineering.
