Senior Risk Engineering Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Execute on-site property risk evaluations independently for current and select potential policyholders.

• Recognize primary loss factors and identify property risk engineering vulnerabilities or shortcomings.

• Provide consultation to insured clients and customers regarding feasible risk enhancement strategies and suitable controls.

• Assess high-hazard facilities, including those involved in plastics production, aerosol manufacturing, fragrance processing, sawmills, and other operations reliant on combustible materials or sprinkler systems.

• Create detailed technical property risk engineering reports and associated documentation.

• Work alongside Risk Analysts to address and rectify identified weaknesses.

• Collaborate with Technical/Project Specialists on various risk engineering initiatives and projects.

• Guide and mentor junior Risk Engineering Consultants and those with less experience.

• Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders on risks of different complexities.

• Travel frequently by car, with occasional overnight trips and rare air travel outside the region.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field is preferred.

• Over 8 years of experience in technical or engineering roles is required.

• Experience in property risk, particularly related to high hazard exposures, is essential.

• In-depth knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards or comparable Factory Mutual Guidelines is necessary.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required.

• Basic familiarity with Excel is expected.

• Must be able to travel by car consistently, with limited air travel.

• Strong grasp of both fundamental and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.

• Exceptional communication abilities, particularly in conveying complex or technical decisions with clarity and confidence.

• High level of proficiency in core Property Risk Engineering competencies.

• Relevant direct experience in property risk engineering is mandatory; backgrounds solely in EHS or health & safety do not align with this role.
